“And Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made all that the LORD commanded Moses.”
Exodus 38:22

Randomness:
I started this little project a few years ago. Starting on the bigger piece of a matching set, just to get the more time consuming piece done and out of the way first.
I sanded for HOURS.
And got most of the top and one side sanded down a bit.
Then I got side tracked.
But I was spontaneously inspired.
:)
My personal dresser was piled high with books.
So I got to thinking . . .
What if I refinished the small dresser first?
(Which fit in the closet PERFECTLY.)
Cleaned out my old dresser, and kept just the amount of clothes that would fit in the small dresser?
Refinished one of the old bookshelves in the garage?
And swapped out my old dresser for a bookshelf?
**
So I ended up doing the small piece first. (And learned my lesson, by starting off with paint stripper FIRST. THEN sanding it down.)
And I LOVE it.
As a bonus, I purged a metric ton of clothing.

But this piece was put away for a later date.
*
In the meantime, this dresser has been sitting in our "extra" room. Taking up space.
Waiting.
Waiting for me to have a few hours of "free" time.
So . . .
Whenever I found out we had Monday off, for Columbus day . . .
I decided it was time to tackle this project again.
Or at least get it back in the works.
But in order to get started . . . I had to move a mini freezer out of the garage.
Which I ended up giving a deep clean before I threw a coat of paint stripper on the dresser.
And then I let the paint stripper do it's work.
****
I waited a few hours, then started scraping away the seven layers of paint it had on it.
By the time I got it all scraped down, I was wishing I had just taken this in bits and pieces instead of all at once.
But the initial stripping as been finished.
And I'm really hoping I have time on Monday to start sanding on it again.
I still have hardware to remove from the drawers, and once I get the "bones" sanded down and ready for stain, I'll tackle the drawers.
One step at a time.
Can't wait to see what it looks like when I get it finished!

More Randomness:
I enjoy taking on projects like this.
It doesn't require much skill.
But it DOES require endless patience.
It's hard work, but very calming.
And who doesn't need a little calm now and then.
***
Also I'm thinking my next "project" needs to be cleaning out hubby's garage.
GOOD HEAVENS! WHAT A MESS!
